This is an in depth look at using new and old technology to generate, share, import and ride a route.

Topics will include:

  • GPS explained and best practices.
  • GPS on the fly navigation and re-routing
  • GPX files, how they work and how to generate, share and import files.
  • Garmin Drive and Explore
  • Using Google Maps to make a quick route, convert it to .GPX file and save on your GPS.
  • Basecamp. Use, best practices and tricks of the trade.
  • Off-grid communications and SOS devices.

This course is tailored to the GPS user, specifically the latest Garmin Zumo, BMW Navigator and Montana devices. Attendees are encouraged to bring their GPS and factory supplied cables along with a laptop computer if they use one, please charge your batteries in advance. All demonstrations and discussion with the exception of apps will be on devices using MS Windows as the operating system. To get the most out of the basecamp session users must have basecamp loaded and working prior to the seminar. There is no plan to offer hands on technical support to installation or performance issues. It is not necessary to have a GPS or laptop but it will help if you do.
